Track & Field Honors Seniors at Blue Devil Invite

Central Connecticut Men's Track and Field hosted the Blue Devil Invitational today at the CCSU Track in New Britain, CT. Central honored their 20 seniors, 11 female and nine male student athletes, prior to the start of the meet. 

CCSU captured the team crown, accumulating 184 points. Hartford placed second with 11 points and AIC was third with 87 points.

 RESULTS 

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS 

• The Blue Bevils dominated in the 110m hurdles with Ed Williams Jr. taking first (14.26) and Kenny Agwu snagging third (16.13). 

• Tristan Burke won the 100m dash in 10.99. 

• Jacon Yannone took second in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:39.24. 

• CCSU's 4x100m relay, consisting of Burke, Williams, Cam Whalen, and Jovan Dixon, finished in 41.92 to win the event.  

• Jack Ciambra placed eighth in the 1,500m race, crossing the finish line in 4:14.53. 

• Central took the top six spots in the 800m run, led by the first-place finish of Jake Ireland, who came in at 1:50.97. 

• Whalen and Jonathan Rodriguez came in first (56.33) and second (59.17) in the 400m hurdles, respectively. 

• Dixon snagged third in the 200m dash with a time of 22.68. 

• James Sullivan won the 3,000m run (8:29.25), coming in almost eight seconds ahead of the second-place runner. Three other Blue Devils placed in the top ten including Calvin Young in fourth, Mark Rodriguez in seventh, and Elias Field in ninth. 

• Central's 4x400m relay (Aiden Budge, Gabriel Kwarteng, Ireland, and Ryan McCauley) came out on top, crossing the finish line in 3:25.73. 

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS 

• Logan Moore won the pole vault, clearing 4.15m. 

• Kyle Wimbish snagged second in the high jump, leaping for 1.95m. 

THROWS HIGHLIGHTS

• Ed Radzion won the shot put by nearly half a meter, with a winning throw of 15.73m, with Leon Green fourth at 14.76m
• Andrew McCarthy placed fourth in the hammer, with a throw of 46.83.
• Mccarthy earned third place in the discus with a throw of 49.43m, followed by Nick Gianni in fourth at 47.79m.
