Men's Track and Field Places Third at the Holy Cross Invite

CCSU men's track and field competed today at the Holy Cross Invitational in Worcester, MA. The Blue Devils placed third overall, tallying 83.5 points. 

RESULTS 

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS 

• Jake Ireland took Central's lone first-place finish of the day in the 800m run. He finished in 1:53.97, just less than a second ahead of his teammate Gabriel Kwarteng, who took second with a new collegiate-best time of 1:54.53. 

• Ireland took the runner-up spot in the 1,500m race, crossing the finish line in 3:53.97. James Sullivan came in at 3:59.17 to finish fifth. 

• CCSU dominated in the 100m dash with three runners placing in the top five. Tristan Burke took third (10.72), Jovan Dixon placed fourth (10.88), and Ed Williams Jr. was just a hundredth of a second behind (10.89), snagging fifth. 

• Williams Jr. had his second top-five finish in the 200m dash, placing fourth with a time of 21.90. 

• Joe Lauria came in fourth in the 2,000m steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 6:21.42. 

• Central's 4x400 relay, consisting of Aiden Budge, Dixon, Kwarteng, and Williams Jr., took second place (3:22.54). 

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS 

• Kyle Wimbish placed second in the high jump, leaping for 1.95m (collegiate best), while Nicolai Yanko snagged third (1.85m). 

• Logan Moore's 4.25m pole vault (collegiate best) earned him fifth place. 

• Andrew McCarthy took fourth in the discus throw with a 49.10m toss.
