Men's Track and Field Competes at the UConn Northeast Challenge

CCSU men's track and field competed at the UConn Northeast Challenge meet in Storrs, CT. Yankarlos Diaz also represented the Blue Devils at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, NJ.

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS 

• Diaz competed in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University. He finished 14th in the event with a time of 9:16.86. 

• Jake Ireland placed second in the 1,500m race, finishing in 3:49.51.  

• Ireland also competed in the 800m race, taking sixth place (1:51.61). Aiden Budge was less than two seconds behind (1:53.06), claiming 11th. 

• James Sullivan took the runner-up spot in the 5,000m race (14:39.87). Calvin Young (15:33.96) and Elias Field (15:48.92) also placed in the top ten in the event, snagging eighth and ninth, respectively. 

• Edward Williams Jr. secured seventh place in the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.65. 

• Cam Whalen represented Central in the 400m hurdles. He finished in 55.39, good for tenth place. 

• CCSU's 4x400m relay, consisting of Whalen, Jovan Dixon, Gabriel Kwarteng, and Budge, placed eighth (3:18.38). 

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS 

• Andrew McCarthy took seventh place in the discus throw with a 50.01m toss. 

• Kyle Wimbish placed 12th in the high jump, leaping for 1.93m. 

• Ed Radzion (14.70m) snagged the 20th spot in the hammer throw, while Leon Green (14.40m) took 22nd.
