Lautenbach, Mack Earn Bronze On First Day Of NEC Indoor Championship

The Central Connecticut State men's track and field team sits in second place in the team standings, with 27 points following the first day of the 2023 Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship. Tim Lautenbach and Tyrone Mack both earned bronze medals on Sunday to pace the Blue Devils effort. 

KEY TRACK PERFORMANCES 

  • The Blue Devils placed three runners into the finals of the 60m hurdles, paced by Edward Williams Jr. who ran 7.97 to qualify second 

  • Cam Whalen (8.59) and Kenny Agwu (8.69) qualified sixth and seventh respectively 

  • Jovan Dixon (6.98) and Williams, Jr. (7.00) qualified in sixth and seventh place in the 60m dash, advancing to Monday's final 

  • James Sullivan and Jake Ireland advanced to the final of the mile, as the third and sixth seeds 

  • Dixon earned a berth in the finals of the 400m with a run of 49.62, just in front of Whalen, who crossed at 50.56 for the seventh qualifying spot& 

  • Gabriel Kwarteng won his heat in the 500m preliminaries to earn a berth in Monday's finals as the second fastest runner on Sunday 

  • Aiden Budge is fourth fastest in the 800m, running 1:55.75 to earn a spot in Monday's finals 

  • Tim Lautenbach made a charge at the 3000m, sharing the lead into the final laps, and placed third at 8:35.50 

  • Yankarlos Diaz placed sixth, at 8:42.14 and Salvatore Masciarelli crossed seventh at 8:48.32 

KEY FIELD PERFORMANCES 

  • Tyrone Mack took bronze in the shot put with a 16.54 (54' 3.25") effort 

  • Ed Radzion placed sixth in the shot, with a throw of 15.26m (50' 0.75") on his final effort, while Leon Green took eighth with a throw of 14.87m (48' 9.5") 

  • Isreal Henriques-Setho had his best jump of the day on his final attempt and placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 7.01m (23'0") 

  • Logan Moore cleared 4.20m (13'9.25") in the pole vault to earn seventh place
