Men's Track & Field Defend Home Track Saturday
Central Connecticut State men's track and field did well to defend its home field Saturday, putting up a number of first place performances at the Blue Devil Invite in New Britain. The men's team was the highest scoring team at Saturday's meet with 172 points collectively.
KEY TRACK PERFORMANCES
- In the 1500m run, Eddie Nicholas kept a tight race up until the final lap. Rounding the last corner, Nicholas was able to kick it into second gear for the remaining 400m, leaving the runners that were neck and neck with him just a few moments ago in the dust. Nicholas finished first at 3:56.75.
- Shawn Akomeah won the 400m hurdles in an impressive 56.58 time.
- Miles Fye-Moore and Jason Walton finished first and third, respectively, in the 200m dash. Fye-Moore clocked in at 21.31.
- Jake Ireland gave it all he had in the 800m run, and made his way to a first place finish at 1:52.51.
- The Blue Devils' final race of the day, the 4x400 relay, went flawlessly for CCSU, who cruised to a 3:24.15 finish.
- Cam Whalen nearly executed a perfect run of the 110m hurdles, but one of the last hurdles tripped up an otherwise electric performance.
