Men's Track and Field Earns 3 First Place Finishes at Ramapo
Central Connecticut men's track and field team dominated at the Ramapo Season Opener Friday, taking home three first place finishes and a number of other strong performances.
The duo of Whalen and Lorenzo Garcia took the first and second spots, respectively, in the men's 60 meter hurdles, while teammate Carlos Villarini grabbed another top five finish with them.
Elias Field was back on the track and making an impact, grabbing gold for the Blue Devils in the 3000 meter run. Field finished at 8:45.12.
Chris Abbey had another win for CCSU in the 600 meter run, coming in first by just .02 of a second (1:22.46, second place finished at 1:22.48).
After a first place finish last week, Jacob Ireland followed things up this week with a second place finish in the men's 1 mile run, finishing with a time of 4:17.22. James Sullivan and Yankarlos Diaz were right there with Ireland, finishing ninth and tenth, respectively.
Ireland followed it up with yet another top three finish, this time in the 800 meter run (1:55.93 final time for third place).
In the men's high jump, Kyle Wimbish grabbed a third place finish with a 1.82m distance.
Yoskar Rosas-Perez earned a second place finish in the men's pole vault, going for 3.80m.
Jovan Dixon grabbed a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a 22.92 time.
Jason had a 51.60 time in the 400 meter dash, good for fifth place.
Isreal Henriques-Setho finished fifth in the long jump and high jump.
In the men's shotput, Ed Radzion finished third with a 13.45m throw while Leon Green finished fifth at 13.23m.
CCSU finished third in the 4x400 relay with a 3:28.24 time.
The Blue Devils will be competing again next weekend at the Great Dane Classic in Albany, NY.
