Men's Outdoor Track and Field Takes Runner-Up For Third Straight Season
The Blue Devils totaled 128 points at the 2021 Northeast Conference Championships.
For the third straight season, the Central Connecticut men's outdoor track and field team was named the Northeast Conference runner-up. The team totaled 128 points and took home 11 medals. Wagner was crowned the NEC Champions totaling 165 points.
Junior Miles Fye-Moore was crowned the Most Outstanding Track Performer (Sprints).
Freshman Eddie Nicholas put the stamp on his breakout season, winning the 3000m steeplechase and nearly breaking the meet record with a time of 9:12.68.
The 4 x 100 meter team consisting of Jovan Dixon, Ali Diaby, Cam Whalen, and Miles Fye-Moore took gold posting a time of 41.34.
The Blue Devils dominated the 200 meter dashing, earning both the gold and silver medal. Junior Miles Fye-Moore placed first at 21.36 seconds and teemate Ali Diaby was right behind coming in at 21.65. Diaby also took silver in the 400m run with a time of 47.40.
Sophomore Andrew McCarthy took silver in the discus finals with a mark of 50.87m. Nick Kocienda placed fourth in the event and the duo earned 13 points for CCSU.
Freshman Jake Ireland posted a strong showing in the 1500m finals, coming in third place with a time of 3:55.50.
Combined with the results from day one, the Blue Devils totaled 128 points and took home second place as a team.
