Blue Devils Place First at AIC Invitational on Saturday
Central dominated all four opponents, scoring 208 points in Springfield.
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team dominated at the AIC Yellow Jacket Invitational in Springfield, MA on Saturday. The team totaled 208 points, finishing well ahead of second place AIC, who tallied 115 points. Adelphi placed third, followed by Franklin Pierce in fourth and Bently in fifth.

Freshman Jovan Dixon placed first in the 100 meter dash by just .04 seconds ahead of Odane Artwell of AIC. Dixton ran a time of 11.24 in the finals. Senior Darius Wise took the bronze and collected 6 points in the event.

Ali Diaby secured 10 points for CCSU in the 200 meter dash, with a first place time of 21.78. Teammate Hank Jean-Jacques placed third in the event, as well as placing second in the 400 meter dash.

Sophomore Andrew McCarthy had a solid day in the field, winning the discus throw with a toss of 48.46m in the finals.

Jake Ireland and Richard Grudzwick starred in the 800 meter run, with Ireland taking the gold. The freshman ran a 1:58.06 in the finals while Grudzwick was just behind with a time of 1:58.35.

Reigning NEC Co-Freshman and Co-Player of the Week Eddie Nicholas took gold in the 5000 meter run and earned 10 points for CCSU.

The Blue Devils dominated the 110 meter hurdles with three runners finishing at the top of the event. Cam Whalen took golf with a time of 15.76, while Carlos Villarini and Jonathan Rodriguez followed.

The team of Ali Diaby, Jason Walton, Richard Grudzwick, and Hank Jean-Jacques took gold in the 4 x 400 relay.

Teammates Yoskar Rosas Perez and Craig Starkey both competed in the pole vault, with Perez taking gold and Starkey winning silver.
