Norstrom Closes First Day at NCAA Track East Prelims in 10000 Meter Race
The NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary continues on Friday.
Junior Alex Norstrom of the Central Connecticut men's track and field team ran in the 10,000 meter race on Thursday night at the NCAA East Preliminary in Tampa, FL, at the University of South Florida Track & Field Stadium. Norstrom turned in a time of 31:11.25 in a race that saw the start pushed back because of a weather delay.
Norstrom placed 43rd in the field of 48 runners. Vincent Kiprop of Alabama won the race in a time of 29:16.49. Bryce England of Saint Francis U was also in the field and clocked a time of 30:02.65.
Norstrom caps off a successful season in which he posted a personal-best time of 29:57.96 in the 10,000 meter at the Bison Outdoor Classic on April 14. He also earned third-place at the Northeast Conference Championships and placed second at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 30:19.17.

Senior Austin Trainor will run in the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Friday, May 25, at 8:00 p.m. Trainor is seeded 26th in the field of 48 runners. The top 12 qualifiers will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 6-9 in Eugene, OR.
