Trainor, Norstrom to Run at NCAA East Preliminary
Competition begins in Tampa, FL, on May 24-26.
Senior Austin Trainor and junior Alex Norstrom will represent the Central Connecticut men's track and field team at the NCAA East Preliminary at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL, on May 24-26. Trainor will run in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and Trainor will compete in the 10,000 meter run.
The competition will be hosted at the University of South Florida Track & Field Stadium. The qualifiers out of the two regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 6-9 in Eugene, OR.

Norstrom will compete in the 10,000 meter run on Thursday, May 24. The race is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Norstrom is seeded 47th in the field of runners. He posted a qualifying time of 29:57.96 at the Bison Outdoor Classic on April 14, setting a personal record in the event to place fourth. Norstrom posted a third-place finish at the Northeast Conference Championships with a time of 31:18.84 and earned a second-place finish in the event at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 30:19.17.
Trainor will run in the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Friday, May 25, at 8:00 p.m. Trainor is seeded 26th in the field of 48 runners. He turned in a time of 8:57.78 at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships and placed second in the event. Trainor earned All-NEC First Team honors in the steeplechase after winning the event with a time of 9:19.08 at the conference championships.
