Men's Track & Field Competes at IC4A/ECAC Championships
Three Blue Devils record top five finishes.
The Central Connecticut men's track & field team has eight representatives competing at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at William Weaver Stadium in Princeton, NJ. Senior Austin Trainor and junior Alex Norstrom each turned in second place finishes to pace the Blue Devils competitors.
In the 3000m steeplechase Trainor, who won the event at the conference championships, clocked a time of 8:57.78 to earn eight points for CCSU. He was edged by Hampton's Wesley Kirui who finished in 8:56.30.
Norstrom and sophomore Roberto Piotto ran in the 10,000m event earning points for CCSU. Norstrom turned in a time of 30:19.17, which was good enough to place second. Piotto clocked in just behind at 30:24.61 to place fourth.
Sophomore Richard Grudzwick ran in the 800m event after winning last weekend at the Northeast Conference Championships. He placed 21st in the event clocking in at 1:52.72.
Sophomores Kevorni Welsh and Marquis Ward were entered in the long jump. Welsh recorded a best leap of 6.57m, which placed 22nd. Ward did not make a mark, but will have a chance to place in the high jump on Sunday.
Freshman Miles Fye-Moore ran a 100 meter dash preliminary time of 11.26 seconds.
