Men's Track and Field Competes at Miami and Yale on Saturday
Grudzwick wins 800 meters with a time of 1:53.19
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team competed at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational and the Mark Young Invitational at Yale on Saturday.
At Miami, sophomore Richard Grudzwick placed first in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.19. Sophomore Akiel Smith finished 10th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.58.
At Yale, senior Darryn Horner took first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.06. Freshman Darius Wise was fourth in 11.19 and junior Jero Sneh finished fifth with a time of 11.24.
Wise was sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.85. Sneh finished 10th at 23.02 and freshman Miles Fye-Moore was 12th in 23.10. Senior Kyle Welch finished 24th in the 800 meter with a time of 2:07.90.
Sophomore Julio Arredondo was sixth in the 1,500 meter with a time of 4:06.56. Junior Adonys Langual was 24th in the same event in 4:24.71.
Sophomore Roberto Piotto placed first in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:11.32. He won by over 30 seconds. Senior Tyler Latham was sixth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.38. Sophomore Tyrik Henry was ninth in 16.13.
Central finished second in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of Jack St. Clair, Langual, Quincy Sanchez and Matt Baum ran a time of 3:26.94.
Sophomore Amaziah Gadson finished second in the high jump with a jump of 1.95 meters. Senior Sam Borecki was second in the pole vault clearing 4.85 meters.
Latham won the long jump competition with a mark of 6.67 meters, besting sophomore teammate Kevorni Welsh who jumped 6.60 meters. Sophomore Jarred Creech was seventh with a jump of 6.01 meters. Welsh finished third in the triple jump with a jump of 13.74 meters. Creech was sixth at 12.42 meters.
Sophomore Nana Kissi was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 13.36 meters. Freshman Jack Godfrey threw 12.50 meters to finished 11th. He also finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 35.35 meters. Kissi was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 52.71 meters.
