Blue Devils Head to Staten Island for NEC Championship
Men's events will begin on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
The Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team will compete for the second Northeast Conference title in program history on Friday and Saturday, February 16-17 at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY. The men's championship track events will begin on Friday with the 60 meter hurdle preliminary round at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude at 1:40 p.m. with the 3,000 meter run final.
NEC Front Row will broadcast all track final events live and free of charge. The field event highlights will be posted on NEC Front Row On-Demand.

Last year, CCSU finished in the middle of the pack at the 2017 NEC Indoor Championships and produced two individual champions, senior Sam Borecki (Pole Vault) and Central graduate Joe Gioielli (Mile).
The Blue Devils enter this season title meet with two top seeded athletes in senior Austin Trainor (Mile: 4:05.72) and junior Alex Norstrom (5K: 14:30.71). Junior Akiel Smith ranks second in the NEC in the 200 meter (21.77s) and third in the 60 meter dash (6.89s) and last week's NEC Rookie of the Week, Jonathan Gill, will look to lead the Blue Devils in the 800 meter run with his second-seeded time of 1:54.46.
In the field, sophomores Amaziah Gadson and Marquis Ward rank second and third, respectively, in the league in the high jump and the reigning pole vault champion, Borecki, is seeded second with his school record-tying mark of 4.95 meters set at the Joe Donahue Games on January 19.
Junior Mike Lang will look to one-up his long jump two seed of 6.99 meters set at the New England Championships two weekends ago.
The Blue Devils last won the NEC championship in 2011 and were led by Aaron Radden who won two individual championships (60m, 200m) en route to being named the Most Valuable Athlete and Outstanding Track Performer of the title meet.
