Latham Sixth, Borecki 10th After Day One at UConn MultiEvent Challenge
Day Two Will Take Place on Friday
Senior Tyler Latham sits in sixth place overall and classmate Sam Borecki is 10th after the first day in the Heptathlon at the UConn MultiEvent Challenge on Thursday. The meet officially opens the indoor track and field season for the Blue Devils. The meet is being held at the Hugh Greer Field House on the UConn campus. Thursday hosted the event's first four events.
Latham sits in sixth place with 2,668 points after the first four events. He ran 7.28 in the 60 meter dash to take third place and earn 785 points. HE then jumped 6.40 meters in the long jump, threw 12.00 meters in the shot put and jumped 1.77 meters in the high jump. The event will end on Friday with the 60 meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000 meter run.
Borecki is in 10th place after the first day. He ran 7.37 in the 60 meter dash, jumped 6.33 meters in the long jump, threw 9.10 in the shot put and jumped 1.83 meters in the high jump. He has 2,499 points and is just four points out of eighth place.
