Alston, Trainor Set Forth to Kentucky for NCAA Regionals
The CCSU dynamic duo will compete on Friday, May 26th against the regions top 48 athletes in their declared events.
Sophomore Edwin Alston and junior Austin Trainor of the Central Connecticut men's track and field team journey to Lexington, KY on May 25-27 for the 2017 NCAA East Preliminary Regional Meet at the University of Kentucky. The Blue Devil standouts were selected as qualifiers for the regional meet last Thursday afternoon by the NCAA.

On Friday, both athletes will compete against the other top 47 contenders in their respective events. Alston will run first in the 110m hurdles at 5:00 p.m. with his school record start time of 14.14s.
Alston ranks 77th nationally and 40th in the region heading into Kentucky.
Trainor will wait until 9:00 p.m. Friday night to compete in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a 31st ranking in the east with a time of 8:58.04. The Port Jervis, NY native currently holds the 73rd fastest time on the national leaderboard.
The last time that Central sent an athlete to the NCAA East Preliminary Regional Meet was back in 2015 on the women's side, when Elizabeth Eberhardt was selected for the 3,000m steeplechase. Eberhardt finished 46th overall at the University of North Florida with a school record-breaking time of 10:27.55.
