Latham Claims Second at SCSU Decathlon, Gioielli Closes Out At Mt. Sac
Junior Tyler Latham ended the SCSU Decathlon in second place with 6,368 points.
Central Connecticut men's outdoor track and field junior Tyler Latham took second place at the Southern Connecticut State University Decathlon on April 13th-14th. Latham accumulated a total 6,368 points through the series of 10 events across the two day invitational.
On the west coast in Torrance, CA, senior Joseph Gioielli ran in the 1,500 meter run at the Mt. Sac Relays. Gioielli ran a time of 3:48.28 and finished in 11th place overall.
The junior set a personal record in the discus with a second place throw of 36.82 meters. Latham was also the 110 meter hurdle runner up with a time of 15.71, and finished third in the javelin after throwing 46.19 meters.
Yesterday, Latham took first in the shot put with a throw of 12.67 meters, and placed second in the long jump with a jump of 6.23 meters. The Mystic, CT product was the 100 meter dash third place finisher with a time of 11.32, and grabbed a pair of fourth place performances in the 400 meter dash (52.22) and the high jump (1.62m).
UCONN NORTHEAST CHALLENGE
The Blue Devils will compete tomorrow April 15 at the UConn Northeast Challenge beginning at 10:00 a.m.
