Men's Indoor Track and Field Earn NEC Honors
Central men's indoor track received three all-conference honors for the 2017 season.
The Northeast Conference announced the all-conference selections for the 2017 indoor track and field season on Wednesday afternoon. Central Connecticut had three members earn all-conference awards, including a pair of representatives on the All-NEC Second Team, and one on the All-Rookie Team.
Senior Joeseph Gioielli and sophomore Edwin Alston each earned silver medals at the 2017 Northeast Conference Indoor Championships en route to picking up All-NEC Second Team honors. Gioielli was the NEC runner-up in the 800 meter run (1:52.20) and the mile (4:13.29), and Alston, the school's 60 meter hurdle record-holder, crossed the finish line at 7.94 at this years finals.
Freshman Marquis Ward was voted to the All-NEC Rookie Team for his championship performances in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Ward placed fifth in the high jump (1.92m) and triple jump (13.56m), and took seventh in the long jump (6.59m).
