Latham Stands in Second at the IC4A Championship After Day One
Latham accumulated 2,867 points through the first four events of the men's heptathlon, placing him in second heading into Saturday.
Junior Tyler Latham kicked off IC4A Championship competition on Friday, March 3 for the Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team in the heptathlon. The first four of the seven events took place on Day 1 on the championships held at the Boston U. Track and Tennis Center, and the following three will take place on Saturday.
After day one, Latham sits in second place accumulating 2,867 points. Latham opened the men's heptathlon with a third place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.24. Latham then took fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.83 meters.
In the long jump, Latham jumped 6.68m, good for sixth place, and ended the day with his best performance of day in the shot put. Latham threw a personal record distance of 13.15 meters, taking the runner-up spot and gained 676 points.

The men's heptathlon picks back up at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the 60 meter hurdles. The 800 meter dash trials will feature sophomore Richard Grudzwick and senior Malcolm Connor at 11:35 a.m. ET Saturday. Grudzwick, enters the race ranked 11th for his school record-breaking marking of 1:49.90, ran last weekend at the NEICAAA Championships.
