Alston Breaks Own School Record, Advances to Finals at Armory Invitational
Alston sets new 60 meter hurdle school record. Men's track to compete at URI Coaches Tribute Saturday.
Central Connecticut men's track and field sophomore, Edwin Alston, broke his own school record in the semifinals of the 60 meter hurdles at the Armory Track Invitational on Friday, Feb. 3. Alston placed first in the third heat of the preliminary race with a time of 8.14. The Northeast Conference's 60m hurdle top gun, then jetted across the finish line in second place of the semis at 7.95 (Watch it here), breaking his previous school record of 8.01, set last week at the John Thomas Terrier Invite.
Alston will race in the finals tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. (ET) at the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York, NY. Senior Joseph Gioielli will also run in the 800 meter dash on Saturday at 1:50 p.m. (ET).
Other members of the Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team will compete in Kingston, RI, at the URI Coaches Tribute Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 4.
