Latham Claims First Place at Elm City Challenge Heptathlon on Saturday
Junior Tyler Latham was the top place finisher in the men's indoor heptathlon at the Elm City Challenge at Moore Field House, at Southern Connecticut in New Haven, CT.
Central Connecticut men's indoor track's junior, Tyler Latham, was the top place finisher with a score of 4,915 in the men's indoor Heptathlon at the Elm City Challenge at Moore Field House, at Southern Connecticut in New Haven, CT. Blue Devil sophomore Sam Borecki tallied 3,753 points finishing in twelfth throughout the seven events.
The men's 55 meter dash, long jump, shot put, and high jump were determined on Friday, and the Elm City Challenge Heptathlon resumed on Saturday, with the 55 meter hurdles. Latham picked up right when where he left off, claiming first place with a time of 7.90, just missing his collegiate personal best time by .01 of a second. Borecki finished ninth and recorded a time of 8.80.
Latham then threw 3.20 meters (seventh place) in the pole vault for Central. In the seventh and final event of the men's Heptathlon, the 1,000 meter run, Borecki and Latham, placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Borecki ran a 2:51.92, and Latham was close behind, crossing the finish line at 2:52.19.
The Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team will participate on Friday, Jan. 6, at the Wagner College Invitational which will be held in Staten Island, N.Y. at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Athletics Complex.
