Alston qualified for the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.31, which he ran in the finals of that event at the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 22. Alston helped the Blue Devils to their third straight Northeast Conference Outdoor Championship this spring. He was one of three CCSU hurdlers to place in the 110 meter event.
Piotto will run in the 10,000 meter event after setting a mark of 31:39.84 at the CCSU Invite on April 2. Piotto was one of four CCSU runners to earn a top-six finish in the 10,000 meter event at the NEC Championships hosted on their home track.
Alston will run in the first round of the 110 meter hurdles on the event's opening day, Friday, June 24. Piotto will run in the final of the 10,000 meter, which is the final event on the opening day of the meet.
The meet features the country's rising track and field stars ranging in age from 14-19. The events will be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, CA.
The top two competitors in each event that reach the world qualifying standard will move onto the IAAF World Junior Championships in Kazan, Russia, later this summer.
