Alston Earns NEC Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Week
He won the 110m Hurdles at last weekend's UMass Minuteman Invitational
Freshman Edwin Alston of the Central Connecticut men's track and field team picked up the Northeast Conference Men's Track and Field Rookie of the Week award it was announced by the league on Tuesday. Alston was honored for his performance at the UMass Minuteman Invitational.
Alston ran a collegiate-best time of 14.54 in the 110 meter hurdles to take gold at last weekend's event. Alston leads a group of six NEC freshmen hurdlers who have qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 110 meter hurdles. His time at the UMass Minuteman Invitational moved him into third overall on the league leaderboard this season. The Sicklerville, NJ, native is tied for the No. 29 spot amongst all IC4A qualifiers.
