Putman Grabs NEC Field Athlete of the Week Award
Sophomore Dashawn Putman recorded the best finish for the Blue Devils this past Saturday and earned NEC Field Athlete of the Week honors for his effort.
Sophomore Dashawn Putman of the Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team was tabbed the NEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week in a release by the Northeast Conference front office on Monday night. Putman recorded the best finish for the Blue Devils this past Saturday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University inside the BU Track and Tennis Center.
Putman, a Bristol, CT product, became the second Blue Devil to qualify for the New England Championships in the high jump this season after clearing a season-best 2.00 meters (6' 6.75") on Saturday en route to picking up NEC Field Athlete of the Week accolades. The clearance earned him a silver medal in the event and puts him on top of the NEC performance list with fellow teammate Amaziah Gadson. The mark also slots Putman tied for 11th on the NEICAAA performance list.
Putman and the rest of the CCSU men's indoor track and field team will return to action next as they compete in the 2016 NEC Indoor Championships, which are set for Feb. 19-20 at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, NY.
