Gioielli Named NEC Track Athlete of the Week

Junior Joseph Gioielli was named the NEC Track Athlete of the Week by the Northeast Conference on Monday afternoon.

Junior Joseph Gioielli of the Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team was named the Northeast Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the conference front office announced on Monday afternoon. Gioielli bested a field of 14 runners in the 800 meter run at the Yale Collegiate Invitational this past Saturday to earn the nod for NEC Track Athlete of the Week.

Gioielli raced to a first place finish inside Coxe Cage in New Haven, CT, home of the 34th Yale Collegiate Invitational this past Saturday, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:54.47. The time currently stands as the fastest NEC 800 meter time so far in the early stages of the 2016 indoor track and field season.
