Men’s Indoor Track and Field Picked Second in NEC Preseason Poll
The CCSU men's indoor track and field team was picked to finish second at the 2016 NEC Indoor Championships in vote among the league's head coaches.
The Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team was picked to finish second in the 2016 Northeast Conference Coaches Poll released by the NEC front office on Friday afternoon. Central finished third at the NEC Championships in 2014 before finishing runner-up last year to LIU Brooklyn who narrowly edged the Blue Devils 140-120.

LIU Brooklyn was picked to repeat as champions in the poll earning six first place votes. The Blue Devils were next and received two first place votes. Sacred Heart was slotted third on the list and picked up the remaining first place vote.
Saint Francis U was predicted to finish fourth followed by Wagner, Mount St. Mary's, Fairleigh Dickinson, Bryant and St. Francis Brooklyn to round out the nine team NEC field.
Central, who won their last NEC Indoor Championship back in 2011, will look to return to the top as the NEC Championships move to a new venue this season after 16 seasons at Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, MD. This year the NEC Championships will be held at the brand new Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, NY on Feb 19-20.
The CCSU men's indoor track and field team opens the 2016 season this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Yale Collegiate Invite held at Coxe Cage in New Haven, CT. The field events will begin at 9 a.m. and the track events will begin at 11:30 a.m.
