Latham Highlights Men's T&F First Day at ECAC/IC4A Championships
Tyler Latham ranks third in the decathlon after day one.
The Central Connecticut men's track & field squad competed on the first day of competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Friday in Princeton, NJ. Freshman Tyler Latham was a standout as he began competition in the decathlon and heads into the second day of the event in second place.
Latham set or matched collegiate personal-bests in three events. Latham tied his collegiate personal-best by running 11.22 in in the first event of the day, the 100 meter dash. He then set a personal-record by jumping 6.76 meters in the long jump. In the high jump, Latham cleared 1.90 meters, setting a new collegiate personal record and then also ran a personal-best 50.51 in the 400m. He threw 11.49 meters in the shot put, which helped him finish the first day in second place with 3,649 points, just six points behind the leader.
Sophomore Ryan Hertzog competed in the 10,000 meter run and clocked a time of 31:39.84.
