Men's T&F Concludes Competition at New England Championships
Blue Devils place eighth in team standings.
The Central Connecticut men's track and field squad wrapped up competition at the New England Outdoor Championships (NEICAAA) at MIT in Boston, MA, on Saturday. The Blue Devils compiled 35 points, which was good enough to place eighth in the team standings.
Senior Patrick Hubbell ran a personal-best 3:50.33 placing second in his heat of the 1,500 meter run. The time was good enough to help Hubbell place sixth overall.
Freshman Austin Trainor placed second in the steeplechase, setting a collegiate personal-record with a time of 9:12.05. Sophomore Brendan Callahan also ran in the event and turned in a time of 9:40.05.
After winning his preliminary heat on Friday, senior Jordan Watkins ran in the finals of the 110 meter hurdles on Saturday. He placed eighth with a time of 15.16.
Senior Ryan Budd qualified for the finals of the 400 meter hurdles and turned in a time of 54.98 to place sixth overall.
The Blue Devils had two other runners set personal-records at the meet. Freshman Alex Norstrom turned in a collegiate personal-record of 32:07.26 in the 10,000 meter run and junior Malcolm Connor ran an outdoor personal-record 1:53.18 in the 800 meter.
Junior Dashawn Putman competed in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.99 meters. The mark set a new personal-best outdoors.
The men's 4x100 meter relay team of freshman David Campbell, junior Kendall Walker, sophomore Zach Andrews and freshman Tyler Latham won their heat with a season-best time of 42.29, which was good enough to place fourth overall. The 4x400 meter relay team of Andrews, senior Chris Savvidou, Connor and Budd ran a season-best of 3:18.02 to place sixth overall.
