Hubbell Named NEC Winter Scholar-Athlete
Central Connecticut senior Patrick Hubbell was named the Northeast Conference Winter Scholar-Athlete for men’s indoor track and field on Tuesday by the NEC front office.
Central Connecticut senior Patrick Hubbell was named the Northeast Conference Winter Scholar-Athlete for men's indoor track and field on Tuesday afternoon by the league office. Six student-athletes from six different schools were honored to represent the six winter sports as the 2014-15 NEC Winter Scholar-Athlete award winners. Hubbell and the other scholar-athlete award winners had to earn a minimum of 60 semester hours at their institution, maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20, and participate with distinction as a member of their respective varsity team in order to qualify for this award.

Hubbell delivered a dominant performance at the 2015 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships, earning gold medals in three events en-route to being awarded MVP honors of the meet. The senior standout won the mile (4:22.10), 3,000 meter run (8:43.06) and 5,000 meter run (15:09.85), posted the highest individual point total, and helped lead the Blue Devils to a runner-up finish at the championship meet. Hubbell was tabbed the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week following his exceptional performance. A local product out of North Haven, CT, Hubbell was also the NEC cross country scholar-athlete this past fall. He carries a 3.25 grade point average as a Mechanical Engineering major.
Along with the scholar-athletes, the NEC also announced its Winter Academic Honor Roll, consisting of 420 student-athletes with a 3.20 or better grade-point average. The Blue Devils had 37 student-athletes represented on this list. There were also 8 CCSU student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes with a 3.75 or better grade point average.
