Borecki Named NEC Rookie of the Week on Tuesday

Central Connecticut freshman Sam Borecki was named the Northeast Conference men's track and field rookie of the week on Tuesday, marking the second straight week that a Blue Devil has won the award. 

Claiming the honor that teammate Tyler Latham held last week, Borecki owns the NEC Rookie of the Week award after striking gold in the field and on the track at the UMass Invitational this past weekend.

Borecki cleared 4.40m to win a pole vault title for the second week in a row. Seven days earlier, he cleared 4.55m to finish first at the 5th annual Yellow Jacket Invitational. After his pole vault performance at UMass, the rookie ran on CCSU's 1600m relay team and helped the Blue Devils to a first-place finish.
