Senior Jordan Watkins finished third at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in the 60 meter hurdles finals on Sunday afternoon.
Senior Jordan Watkins finished third overall and broke the CCSU school record in the 60 meter hurdles finals on Sunday afternoon at the IC4A/ECAC Championships. The two-day championships were held inside the BU Track and Tennis Center on the campus of Boston University. Watkins was the only Blue Devil to compete in a finals event on Sunday after qualifying through the preliminary and semifinal round on Saturday.
Watkins, who broke his own CCSU school record in a fifth place performance yesterday in the 60 meter hurdles semifinals heat, was at it again on Sunday. The senior standout clocked in at 8.18 yesterday and then topped that in the finals today, coming in at 8.15. The mark sets the new school standard in the 60 meter hurdles and earned Watkins a bronze medal in the event. The finish also picked up six points for CCSU as a team at the meet.
Monmouth won the men's IC4A championship, recording 58 total points over the two-day meet. Georgetown was runner-up with 51 points, followed by the University of Albany with 48 points to round out the podium. Central finished with nine points as a team to earn a tied for 31st place overall finish.
The IC4A/ECAC Championship marks the end of the indoor season for the men's indoor track and field team. The men's track and field squad will resume competition with the beginning of the outdoor season.
