Senior Patrick Hubbell of the Central Connecticut men's indoor track and field team was named the Corvias ECAC Division I New England Men's Indoor Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Hubbell picks up the honors after winning three gold medals and earning the NEC Indoor Most Valuable Performer award this past weekend at the 2015 Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship meet.
Hubbell, who was also the 2014 NEC Cross Country Outstanding Performer, helped lead the Blue Devils to a runner-up finish at the indoor championship meet. The senior standout won the one mile run, 3,000 meter run and the 5,000 meter run on Sunday, individually earning 30 of the 120 CCSU points scored on the weekend.
Hubbell cruised to victory in the one mile run with a time of 4:22.10. He won the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:43.06, almost five seconds faster than the second place runner, and then capped off his MVP performance breaking the tape in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:09.85.
This is the first time this season Hubbell has earned the honor from the ECAC and he shares it with David Oluwandra from Boston University. Hubbell, a North Haven, CT product, has also been tabbed the NEC Track Athlete of the Week once this season.
The Blue Devils will return to action this Friday and Saturday at the New England (NEICAAA) Championships at Boston University.
