Men's Track Competes at Yale on Saturday
Blue Devils open Indoor Season with a meet at Yale University
The Central Connecticut men's indoor track team opened the 2015 season with a trip to the Yale Invitational on Saturday. Complete results can be found below.
YALE INVITATIONAL RESULTS
Sophomore Jevon Elmore finished third in the 60 meter dash for CCSU with a new personal-best time and IC4A qualifying time of 6.98.
Classmate Zach Andrews started the 2015 indoor track season with a runner-up finish in the 200 meter dash. Andrews earned his silver medal with a time of 22.90.
In the 500 meter dash senior Jamal Fruster and junior Malcolm Connor took fourth and sixth place respectively. Fruster recorded a new personal-best time of 1:05.31 to earn his fourth place finish. Connor crossed the line with a time of 1:06.60.
Northeast Conference Cross Country Outstanding Performer of the Year, Patrick Hubbell, began his indoor track season with a third place finish in the one mile run. The senior crossed the finish line with a time of 4:10.32.
Freshman Tyler Latham started his Blue Devil career with a sixth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles finals heat with a personal-best time of 8.44. He was joined by senior Jordan Watkins in the event, who took eighth place with a final time of 8.66.
The Blue Devil 4x400 meter relay team of Fruster, Andrews, Latham and Connor recorded a second place finish out of 20 teams. The squad combined to log a time of 3:20.10, just five hundredths of a second behind the leader, to earn their silver medal.
Junior Dashawn Putman and sophomore Malik Gordon started the season strong in the high jump for the Blue Devils. Putnam, a transfer from Saint Peter's University, recorded a third place finish clearing 1.94 meters. Gordon finished in a tie for fourth place clearing 1.89 meters on his first attempt. The height for Gordon is a new personal-best.
Freshman Mike Lang started his Blue Devil career with a sixth place finish in the long jump. The Prospect, CT native recorded his longest jump of 6.48 meters on his first attempt.
Michael Ficorilli led the Blue Devils in the shot put. The senior finished in 13th place with a distance of 13.59 meters.
Sophomore Jeremy Willis threw a new personal-best distance of 12.48 meters in the weight throw for the Blue Devils. His distance was good for a 19th place finish overall.
The men's indoor track team will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 16 at the NYC Gotham Cup at the Armory in New York, NY.
