Men's Track Completes New Englands Saturday
CCSU tallied five more team points Saturday to finish 20th overall.
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team completed the 2014 New England Outdoor Championships in 20th place out of 38 teams on Saturday in Westfield, MA. The Blue Devils added five points to Friday's team total.
CCSU competed in just four individual events on the final day of NEICAAA competition. Junior Jamal Fruster, who finished first overall in Friday's preliminaries, finished seventh Friday in a time of 48.78 seconds earning two points for the Blue Devils.
In the 100m dash freshman Jevon Elmore, who qualified yesterday in seventh with a time of 11.03, repeated his seventh-place finish in Saturday's finals for two more CCSU points.
The Blue Devil 4x100m relay squad earned the final point for CCSU, finishing eighth out of 18 teams in 42.32 seconds.
Central also fielded a 4x400m relay squad which finished ninth in 3:16.68.
Other notable performances for CCSU include a ninth-place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase from Brendan Callahan. The freshman raced a time of 9:34.92 for a new career-best time, surpassing his previous personal-best time of 9:51.18 which he raced at this year's NEC Championships.
Freshman Thomas Lupoli also raced for CCSU. He completed the 800m run in 1:54.33 for 25th out of 33 runners.
