Track Standout Aaron Radden Competes at USATF Junior Champsionships

Central Connecticut State University track standout Aaron Radden recently finished fourth in the 200 meters at the United States Track and Field Junior Championships held in Des Moines, IA. Radden posted a time of 21.36 in the finals of the 200 to place fourth. Radden had a standout freshman campaign for the Blue Devils in 2009-10 in both indoor and outdoor track.

"Aaron's performance at the Junior Championships was outstanding," head men's and women's cross country and track coach Eric Blake said following the meet. "He has come a long way in just one season with us. Aaron proved he was one of the top performers in the league in 2009-10, and now he proved he can be among the nation's elite with his performace in the 200 in Iowa. We are proud of his accomplishments and look forward to great things from Aaron as a Blue Devil."

The Waterbury, CT native won both sprinting events at this winter's NEC Indoor Championships, recorded seasonal bests in both the 100 and 200 meters. Both times qualified him for IC4A Championship competition. His performances earned him the Most Valuable Performer, Outstanding Track Performer and Outstanding Rookie Performer honors at the NEC Indoor Championships.

Radden earned several honors during the indoor and outdoor track seasons for the Blue Devils. He was named Road Runner Sports Northeast Conference Track Athlete of the Week on April 27 for his performance at Holy Cross. The sprinter earned weekly NEC honors three times on the year. Radden received the honors twice during the indoor season before being named Most Valuable Performer at the conference championships.

He was named Athlete of the Week in April after winning both the 100 and 200 meter dashes for the second meet in a row at the Yale Springtime Invitational. The freshman placed first in the 100 with a time of 10.86 seconds and took first in the 200, crossing the line in 21.59 seconds. Radden was also a member of the Blue Devils' 4x100 meter relay team that placed third in a time of 42.33 seconds.
