Men's Soccer Rally Falls Short at St. Francis Brooklyn, 3-2

The Central Connecticut men's soccer team had its second half rally fall short at St. Francis Brooklyn, falling 3-2 on Sunday in Brooklyn Heights, NY. The Blue Devils shutout the Terriers after halftime and made it a one-goal game, but were unable to find the equalizer.

• Daniel Wilmore made five saves in the opening half-hour of the game as CCSU and St. Francis were deadlocked for most of the first half.
• The teams erupted for a combined four goals in the final 14 minutes of the opening half. St. Francis Brooklyn opened the scoring with a pair of penalty kicks in a span of just over two minutes. Following a sharp save by Wilmore, a foul was called in the scramble for the loose ball. Khaled Abdella scored the ensuing kick at 31:18. He tacked on his second of the day at the 34:02 mark after a foul in the area resulted in another PK.
• The Blue Devils charged forward on the restart and drew a foul inside the penalty box. CCSU would get a goal back just 30 seconds later after Birk Martinsen calmly finished his chance to make it 2-1 at 34:38.
• Central would cut the deficit to 3-2 with just over a quarter-hour to play. After a foul near midfield, Martinsen played a long ball ahead on a quick restart and Taein Ka cut in from the left wing before sending a rocket to the far corner to make it a one-goal game. 
• The Terriers defense would not allow the Blue Devils to put a shot on target over the final 15 minutes.
