Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Home Decision to Mount St. Mary's on Friday
Blue Devils will play again next Friday night at Saint Francis U
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 home decision to Mount St. Mary's on Friday night. The loss moves the Blue Devils to 0-10-1 overall and 0-4 in Northeast Conference play. Mount St. Mary's improves to 2-7-3 overall and 1-2-1 the NEC with the win. Central returns to action next Friday on the road at Saint Francis U beginning at 2 p.m.
The Mount took a 1-0 lead at the 22:01 mark when Boris Nana Tonzi deflected a shot from Jonathan Godette for his third goal of the season. The play came off a corner kick by Miguel Lucero and gave the Mount the lead.
Central held a 6-2 edge in shots on goal and the Mount goalkeeper Bobby Edwards made three saves in goal in the period.
The Blue Devils tied the game on senior Louis Beddouri's fourth goal of the season less than 10 minutes into the second half. Beddouri took a feed from freshman Noah Silverman and beat the Mount keeper to tie the game 1-1.
The Mount regained the lead, 2-1, on the first goal of the season from Andrew Lasso with just over 27 minutes to play in the second half. Lasso took a rebound off a deflection, dribbled and gathered, and then beat CCSU keep Carson D'Ambrosio to the top left corner for the goal.
D'Ambrosio finished with five saves in the game for CCSU, all coming in the second half. The Blue Devils held a 16-8 edge in shots while each team had eight shots on goal. Edwards made six saves in goal for the Mount.
The Blue Devils are back in action next Friday, October 19 on the road at St. Francis U.
