Men's Soccer Ties Hartford On Tuesday Night, 1-1
Central opens conference play on Friday at St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team tied Hartford, 1-1, on Tuesday night at Al-Marzook Field in West Hartford, CT. The Blue Devils opened the scoring in the second half and the Hawks tied the game to send the game to overtime. Following a pair of extra periods the game remained even between the local rivals.
Central moved to 0-6-1 on the season, while Hartford is now 0-6-4.
The Blue Devils open Northeast Conference play on Friday afternoon at St. Francis Brooklyn.
Central opend the scoring early in the second half. Freshman Noah Silverman took a shot from the left side, inside the 18-yard box that beat the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 at the 55:08 mark. The goal is Silverman's second of the season.
The Hawks tied the game in the 64th minute when Jovante Etienne fed Kamer Nuhiu for his second goal of the year to tie it 1-1.
The Blue Devils outshot the Hawks, 3-0, in overtime, but were unable to find a winner. Senior Louis Beddouri had a shot from distance just before the end of the second overtime, but Hartford's Jimmy Slayton was able to make the stop and preserve the tie.
Hartford held a slim, 10-9 shot advantage in shots for the game. Senior Carson D'Ambrosio made three saves for CCSU. The teams each had five corner kicks in the game.
