Beddouri Scores Twice for Men's Soccer at UMass on Saturday
The Blue Devils travel to Quinnipiac on Friday, Sept. 21.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team fell at Massachusetts, 5-2, on Saturday in Amherst, MA. Senior Louis Beddouri scored twice for Central, notching his first two goals of the season, but the Minutemen scored a pair of first half goals to build a lead it would hold throughout the day.
CCSU slips to 0-5 on the season, while UMass improved to 4-2-2 overall.
The Blue Devils travel to Quinnipiac on Friday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
UMass opened the scoring with a penalty kick at the 23:38 mark. Jack Fulton made it 1-0 with the spot kick.
The Minutemen doubled the lead with a goal 10 minutes later. DeAndrae Brown took a pass from Yosuke Hanya from the right side and finished from six yards out to make it 2-0 at the 33:27 mark.
Central cut the lead in half with a goal in the 59th minute. Freshman Noah Silverman had a shot blocked at 57:56, senior Louis Beddouri picked up a mishandled ball by the goalkeeper. Beddouri put in his shot from four yards out to make it 2-1 at the 58:13 mark.
UMass quickly answered with a pair of goals in a span of two minutes. Fulton finished his second penalty kick of the day to make it 3-1 at the 59:09 mark.
Just over a minute later Davis Smith finished off a combination of passes from Clement Benhaddouche and James McPherson. Smith controlled the pass from 15 yards out and put his shot in the right side to make it 4-1 at the 60:43 mark.
The Minutemen added to the lead in the 81st minute. Jared McCleary took a pass from Brown and finished from five yards out to push the lead to 5-1.
Beddouri got his second of the day for Central with just over to minutes remaining. He finished off a penalty kick at 87:37 to settle the scoring.
The Blue Devils held a 17-13 advantage in shots and had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. Senior Carson D'Ambrosio made four stops for CCSU.
Central will play at Quinnipiac on Friday in a 4:00 p.m. kickoff.
