Men's Soccer Hosts UMass Lowell in Season Opener Friday
The Blue Devils open the season Friday night at home at 7:35 p.m.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team kicks off the 2017 season on Friday night at home against UMass Lowell. Kickoff is slated for 7:35 p.m. at CCSU Soccer Field between the Blue Devils and the 18th-ranked River Hawks.

Head coach Shaun Green begins his 33rd season at the helm of the Blue Devils. He will look seniors Nick Velleca and Luke Albertini to help lead the squad as the pair was named co-captains prior to the season. Velleca earned All-Northeast Conference Second Team honors last season and started 14 games between the goalposts. Albertini has started all but one game in the midfield over the last two seasons and will again help anchor the center of the pitch. Also returning for CCSU is sophomore Andres Muriel Albino who was named NEC All-Rookie after notching two goals and an assist.
Following Friday's opener, the Blue Devils will travel to Burlington, VT, for the Peter Baldwin Memorial Classic. Central will face Niagara on Friday, Sept. 1, and then play Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, Sept. 3.
