Wilson Named NEC Player of the Week
Senior takes home the award for the first time this season
Senior forward and 2012 Hermann Trophy Candidate Reece Wilson was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Wilson and the Blue Devils split a pair of games on the road at Belmont University over the weekend.
CCSU, now 2-4 overall on the season, lost a heartbreaker in double-overtime on Friday night against Belmont, 3-2. They followed that up with a 3-1 victory over Lipscomb on Sunday, also played at Belmont in the Mafiaoza's Invitational.
Wilson now leads the Blue Devils in points with eight on the season.
In the double-overtime loss to Belmont Wilson scored his first goal of the season. He followed that up with goals two and three of the year in the 3-1 win over Lipscomb.
With the Blue Devils on top 1-0, Wilson scored his first goal of the day to push the lead to 2-0. After Lipscomb cut the lead in half, Wilson put the game away with his second goal of the afternoon, recording the first multi-goal game of his career at CCSU. He had six goals last season and was an All-Conference selection.
The Blue Devils return to action on Sunday hosting Stony Brook in a non-conference match beginning at 2 p.m.
