CCSU Falls to Sacred Heart on the Road
The Central Connecticut State University men's soccer team was upended by Sacred Heart by a score of 2-0 on the road Friday night. The Blue Devils fall to 6-4-1 on the season and 1-2-1 in the Northeast Conference. CCSU goalkeeper Chris Jones recorded four saves in the loss. Central will next play on Sunday October 18 at 4:00 p.m. when they take on Fairleigh Dickinson.

The Pioneers got the scoring started just before halftime on a goal by Patrick Daka in the 43rd minute of play. Daka received a pass from Nemanja Filimonovic and put it past Jones to give Sacred Heart the 1-0 lead.
At the half Central held a 5-4 shot advantage and recorded two corner kicks to Sacred Heart's zero. Jones made one save for CCSU, while Alex Fait totaled three saves in the first period for the Pioneers.
Sacred Heart got the insurance goal in the 71st minute when Lusiano sent a cross through the box. Norman Baer connected on a diving header to put the Pioneers up 2-0 and give them the win over CCSU.
Jones finished the game with four saves, while Fait tallied three. CCSU ended with a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks, but Sacred Heart recorded 12 shots to Central's eight in the match.
