Senior captain Yan Klukowski was tabbed Brine/NEC Player of the
Week for his performances in CCSU's victories over Marist and
Manhattan. The midfielder has been named Player of the Week in two
out of the first three weeks of play for the Blue Devils.
In Central's first game of the week against Marist, the Blue Devils
were holding on to a one goal lead when Klukowski played a ball
over the top of the defense to fellow senior captain, David
Tyrie. The CCSU defender put it away in the 65th minute and
the Blue Devils won 3-1.
On the road against Manhattan, Klukowski scored the lone goal of
the game in the 30th minute. The Wiltshire, England native
received a ball from sophomore Connor
Smith and was left one on one with the Jasper goalkeeper.
Klukowski finished the play and the Blue Devils held on to improve
their record this year to 4-1-1.
CCSU has been playing extremely well since their NEC Championship
and run to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament a year ago. The
Blue Devils are now 12-2-2 in their last 16 games, dating back to
October of 2007. Central will be traveling to Virginia on Tuesday
September 23 to take on the Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m.
Klukowski now leads the Blue Devils and stands in second in the NEC
with four goals and nine total points.
