Men's Golf Concludes First Round Play at NCAA Regional on Monday
The Blue Devils begin the second round of play at the NCAA Tournament on Tuesday.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team teed off in the first round of the Kissimmee NCAA Regional on Monday. Freshman Joe Tucker shot a 71 to lead the Blue Devils in the opening round. The field of 14 teams and five individuals is competing in the regional tournament at the Par 72, 7,154 yards Watson Course at Reunion Resort in Reunion, FL.
Tucker paced Central on the course in the opening round shooting one-under par. He shot a 36 on the front nine, before shooting a -1 on second nine to finish the day with a 71. He carded five birdies and is tied for 21st overall.
Senior Anthony Sebastianelli shot a 76 in the first round and was just +1 on the back nine. He carded a pair of birdies to finish tied for 61st on the leaderboard.
Sophomore Arthur Ouimet shot an even-par on the back nine and finished with a first round score of 77. He birdied the 13th hole and is tied for 65th (+5) after the opening round.
Freshman Nick Piersall carded a 79 in the first round. He finished the day tied for 71st overall. Senior Brandon Raine shot an 80 in the opening round. He carded five birdies on the round and is tied for 73rd (+8) after the first round.
The Blue Devils stand 14th as a team following the first round of play. Central is just six shots behind Georgetown. Florida and UCF are tied atop the team leaderboard after the first round. Four golfers are tied atop the individual leaderboard at five-under.
The opening round was delayed for over an hour due to heavy rain and water on the course before play resumed at 9:46 a.m. The second round of play will tee off on Tuesday morning. Central is slated to begin play at 9:20 a.m. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com.
