Men's Golf in Fifth Place After Day One at Lonnie Barton Invitational
Ouimet and Sebastianelli lead CCSU with day one scores of 74
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in fifth place after the first day of competition at the Lonnie Barton Invitational on Monday. The tournament is being played at the LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, FL. The Blue Devils shot a team score of 303 and sit just three shots out of third place.
Central's 303 sits behind Fort Wayner (284), Bethune-Cookman (293), Bryant (300), St. Francis U (301) and ahead of Sacred Heart, Fairleigh Dickinson, Evansville, LIU Brooklyn, St. Francis Brooklyn, Wagner, Midway University and North Carolina A&T in the 14 team field.
Senior Anthony Sebastianelli and sophomore Arthur Ouimet paced the Blue Devils with round one scores of 74 (+2). Each sit in a tie for 12th place overall and are just five shots off the overall lead. Freshman Thomas Downing shot a day one score of 75 and is tied for 20th place.
Freshman Joe Tucker shot a round one score of 76 and is tied for 25th place. Senior Aaron Donnelli fired a 78, while classmate Brandon Raine also shot a 78, both are tied for 38th place overall. Freshman Nick Piersall shot an 80 and is tied for 55th place. Sophomore Andrew Szandrocha fired an 87 and sophomore John Aitken shot an 88.
Day two of the tournament will take place on Tuesday.
