Men's Golf Finishes Eighth at Rhode Island Invitational
Aitken and DiReda each tie for 25th place
Freshman Drew Aitken and senior Nick Direda each shot a three-round total of 227 to tie for 25th place overall as the Central Connecticut men's golf team finished in eighth place at the Rhode Island Invitational on Tuesday.
The first two rounds were played on Monday. The Blue Devils shot 302 in the first round and 305 in the second round. They finished with a 312 in the final round to finish at 917. Rhode Island won the event with a three-round total of 876.
Direda led the Blue Devils, shooting a 75 in the final round to finish with a total of 227 (76-76-75). Aitken shot a 76 in the final round to also finish with a total of 227 (74-77-76).
Freshman Arthur Ouimet tied for 38th overall with a total of 233 (77-75-81). Senior Matthew Mahlke was just two shots behind and finished tied for 54th with a total of 235 (75-75-85). Junior Brandon Raine rounded out the CCSU contingent. He finished with a total of 238 (77-81-80) to tie for 61st.
Central will play at the Northeast Conference Championship on April 29-30 in Daytona Beach, FL.
