Blue Devils in Seventh Place After Round Two at Rhode Island Invitational
Matthew Mahlke is tied for 20th after shooting 75-75
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in seventh place out of 13 teams after the first two rounds of the Rhode Island Invitational on Monday. The tournament is being played at Quidnesset Country Club in North Kingstown, RI. The third and final round will take place on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils shot 302 in the first round and 303 in the second to sit at 605 and are just four shots out of the top five. Rhode Island (580) leads the field, followed by Bryant (591), Fordham (593), Drexel (597), Wagner (601), Delaware (604) and then CCSU.
Senior Matthew Mahlke shot 75 in the first round and 75 in the second round to sit in a tie for 20th place overall. His score of 150 leads the Blue Devils.
Freshman Drew Aitken shot a round one score of 74 and followed that up with a 77 to shoot 151 and tie for 25th.
Senior Nick Direda shot 76-76 and is tied for 33rd, along with freshman Arthur Ouimet (77-75). Junior Brandon Raine (77-81) is tied for 58th place overall.
The third and final round will begin on Tuesday morning.
