Men's Golf Competes at Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic
Blue Devils will complete their Fall season on Tuesday
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in 12th place at the 2016 Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic after the first two rounds on Monday. The Blue Devils will complete play tomorrow with the third and final round.
The tournament is being hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University at the Old Corkscrew Golf Club and is a par-72, measuring 6,718 yards on Day 1, and 6,750 yards on Day 2.
Junior Anthony Sebastianelli leads all CCSU golfers and sits in a tie for 10th place overall after a solid first day. He shot 71 in round one and followed that with a second round score of 78. His total of 149 is just five shots back of second place.
The Blue Devils are in 12th place out of 16 teams in the event. They shot 318 in the first round and were tied for 11th place. They followed that up with a 319 in the second round, for a two round total of 637. Eastern Kentucky (580) leads the field, followed by FGCU (592), UCF (598), Bethune-Cookman (600) and Stetson (603) who rounds out the top five teams.
Senior Matthew Mahlke is tied for 59th place overall in the 91 player field. He shot 82-78 for a two round score of 160. Freshman Arthur Ouimet (83-79-162) is tied for 69th, while junior Brandon Raine (82-84-166) is tied for 81st. Freshman Drew Aitken (88-85-173) is in 89th place overall.
The third and final round of the event will take place on Tuesday morning.
