Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at the 2016 Connecticut Cup
Freshman Drew Aitken finishes tied for 15th place overall
The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished in ninth place in the 15-team field of the 2016 Connecticut Cup that completed play on Tuesday. The Blue Devils shot a team score of 298 on Tuesday to complete the three round tournament at 907 (+43). The tournament was played at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, CT and is a par 72.
Freshman Drew Aitken paced the Blue Devils as he tied for 15th place overall after shooting a 75 on Tuesday. His three round score of 224 (+8) was one shot better than junior teammate teammate Brandon Raine. Raine shot 76 on Tuesday and finished at 225 (+9), in a tie for 23rd place overall.
Freshman Arthur Ouimet shot a 74 on Tuesday, tied for the best round of the tournament for the Blue Devils, to finish at 229 (+13) in a tie for 41st place overall.
Junior Anthony Sebastianelli also shot a 74 on Tuesday and finished at 230 (+14), good for a tie for 47th. Senior Matthew Mahlke shot a 75 and finished at 237 (+21) in a tie for 70th place overall.
Boston College (888) won the team title, four shots better than UConn (892). They were followed by Cornell (893), Bryant (894), Hartford (898), St. John's (900), Siena (903), Colgate (906) and then CCSU. Binghamton, Fairfield, Sacred Heart, LIU Brooklyn, Rider and Canisius rounded out the field.
