Men's Golf in Ninth Place After Day One of Connecticut Cup
Brandon Raine and Drew Aitken tied for 14th place after second round
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in ninth place after completing two rounds at the 2016 Connecticut Cup on Monday. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Connecticut. The Blue Devils shot team scores of 306 and 303 on Monday and at 609 are just 10 shots back of the third place team.
The tournament is being played at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, CT and is a par 72.
Boston College leads all teams with a score of 589 on Monday. Bryant is second (596), followed by Siena (599), UConn (600), Cornell (603), Colgate and St. John's (607), Hartford (608) and CCSU. The Blue Devils are ninth overall in the 15 team field.
Junior Brandon Raine and freshman Drew Aitken led the way for the Blue Devils in the first and second rounds on Monday. Each shot a 75 in the first round followed by a 74 in the second round for a total of 149. They sit in a tie for 14th place overall.
Freshman Arthur Ouimet shot 76-79 (155) and is tied for 45th place overall. Junior Anthony Sebastianelli shot 80-76 (156) and is tied for 50th place.
Senior Matthew Mahlke shot 80-82 (162) and is tied for 76th place overall.
The third and final round will take place on Tuesday.
