Men's Golf Completes First Round at Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate
Second round play begins on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team stands in second place after the first round at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate being held at Hop Meadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT. The Blue Devils also had freshman A.J. Ouimet and junior Anthony Sebastianelli among the top 10 individually after day one.
Ouimet shot a first round 72 to finish at even par and in fifth on the individual leaderboard. Sebastianelli was just one stroke back at +1 after firing a 73. He is among a group of nine golfers tied for sixth.
Junior Brandon Raine and freshman Drew Aitken were just behind. Raine finished at +2 shooting a 74 and was tied for 15th. Aitken finished at +3 (75) and was tied for 24th. Freshman Andrew Szandrocha finished at +5 with a 77. Senior Matt Mahlke also competed and shot a 79 to finish at +7.
The Blue Devils shot 294 (+6) as a team and were six strokes back of fellow Northeast Conference member Bryant (288, even) atop the field of 14 schools.
The second and final round tees off at 10:00 a.m. Sunday.
